When making any recipe it is easy to get carried away with the way that your dish tastes, but to forget about the importance of presentation. It is important not only for a German Chocolate Cake to taste good, but also to look good. The First time I tried to make this cake it was a mess! Not just because it was sunk in the middle, but we didn't have enough frosting. It was a crumbly, but yummy catastrophe.  With a little experience you will be able to make it look as good as it tastes.

One thing good about a cake as rich as this one is that it is not only good for potlucks, but is also good for an elegant place settings. I suggest serving it with either milk, or tea.

German Chocolate Cake is at its beast with two scoops of ice-cream. I prefer vanilla over chocolate so that it is not too rich, but you can serve it with any type of ice-cream you like.
